On a budget? Racepak Sportsman data recorders are designed to meet all of the needs of the budget-conscious racer. They incorporate the same V-Net technology used by the professionals, but in an economically-priced package. In their base configuration, you can record and download engine rpm, battery voltage, acceleration G's, and lateral G's. Racepak's Vehicle Network (V-Net) is a "smart data" transfer network able to transmit multiple signals from sensors over a single cable. The key to the V-Net system is the modular connectors that attach each of the devices to the main cable. For a function or component to be monitored on the V-Net, the signal from that device must pass through a sensor and its module (essentially a miniature computer) that identifies and retrieves only the proper incoming signals and allows other signals to pass through. The sensor measures the input from the function or device (i.e. rpm, pressure, temperature, etc.), while the module converts the signal so it can be transmitted over the V-Net. Racepak analog pre-programmed V-Net modules with sensors are programmed to collect specific data and are ready for plug-and-play installation on the V-Net cable. Racepak split collar and magnet assemblies provide mounting platforms for the magnets that trigger the sensor monitoring the revolutions of a shaft. They are typically used on rear-end yokes and couplers to deliver driveshaft rpm data. Racepak collars are available with either two or eight magnets. Racepak Hall Effect driveshaft sensors take advantage of the magnetic field created by simple magnets. It allows the sensors to generate a measurable voltage output known as the Hall Effect. This output can be gauged to accurately determine things like driveshaft or wheel rpm. These metal devices feature a 5/16 in. fine thread pitch on one end and a 3-pin Molex connector on the other for installation. Racepak Hall Effect driveshaft sensors work with several models of Racepak data loggers and dashes.

Collect exhaust samples accurately with Racepak air/fuel sensors. These A/F sensors come with a 13 in. pigtail cable and are compatible with either gasoline or methanol fueled engines. Gasoline application will display ratios between 9.55:1 and 20:1, while methanol will show from 4.22:1 to 8.7:1. Racepak air/fuel sensors can be used with all V-Net products, and can run on 12 to18 V battery systems.

All Racepak V-Net systems must be equipped with a tee cable to install the two terminator caps (one male and one female) necessary for the operation of the system. Just like the ends on the V-Net cables, all V-Net tee cables and terminator caps are blue. Racepak interface modules can also use tee cables, but they are not required for the system to operate properly. Instead, they allow you to create a branch in the system. Black interface tee cables and dust caps are used for the purposes their names indicate. Racepak gauge tee cables are used to connect Intelli-Gauges to a V-Net cable. After the first gauge, each subsequent gauge is connected with a gauge-to-gauge jumper cable.
