These Ratech pinion depth setting tools give you accurate pinion depth settings in five easy steps. Just set the tool on top of the pinion head with its slot end in the carrier bearing journal and then insert a dial caliper in the slot. Position the depth rod so it touches the bottom of the carrier bearing bore, take the measurement from the caliper (sold separately), subtract that number from 3.25 in., and you have the correct pinion depth.
