GM’s third-generation Cadillac CTS (2014–2019) marked a shift in direction for the brand’s popular luxury sport vehicle, as GM simplified the lineup by doing away with the CTS coupe and sport wagon variants one generation after their introduction. Instead, the company focused on its longer and lower CTS sedan with numerous updates and usability improvements. Among the changes were a voice-activated and touchscreen-controlled interface, along with all-new engine options. These included the first-ever 4-cylinder engine—a 2.0L turbocharged Ecotec model—to be featured in a CTS model, along with a 420-horsepower, twin-turbo V6 engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission in the Vsport trim. All engines available on the third-generation CTS featured direct injection and variable valve timing technology.
