This generation also saw the return of the legendary ZR-1 trim, complete with supercar-besting performance. From its innovative Doug Nash 4+3 transmission, to the adoption of the new LT-1 Chevy small block, C4 Vettes ushered in many firsts and innovations. The T-tops were gone, replaced by a removable ‘Targa’ top, though the convertible returned in 1986.
