Cadillac redesigned its popular CTS luxury sport model for 2008, updating the popular vehicle with all-new body styles, on-demand all-wheel drive technology, new engine options, and more features. Initially offered as a sedan like its predecessor, the second-generation CTS later was offered as a coupe and sport wagon, too. GM made all three models available with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, in either a rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configuration. Other exterior changes included a wider body, larger grille, slimmer headlights and taillights, and high-performance brake calipers and rotors. Initially, the base-model sedan featured a 3.6L LY7 V6 engine designed to pump out 263 horsepower. Later model year CTS vehicles came with a direct-injection 3.6L V6 and 3.0L V6 engine, both of which included variable valve timing technology.
